The Grand Theft Auto games were invented by a British man called "David Jones" & he made the games in Britain (Scotland Britain) with his game company "DMA Designs"

Then 2 English brothers "Sam & Dan Houser" took over the company & the GTA Franchise (from GTA III onwards) they then opened up an office in Newyork & called it "Rockstar Games". They then changed game company "DMA Designs" in Britain to " Rockstar North" & this is where all the main GTA games are made (apart from the portable versions they are made in "Rockstar Leeds" in England/Britain)

Rockstar Games has many sub divisions all over the world but most of them are in Britain, Rockstar North (all main GTA games are made here) Rockstar Leeds (all portable GTA games are mdae here) Rockstar London & Rockstar Lincoln.

at first rockstar created a racing type game however in the game you could get out and take other cars however due to a glitch in the game the police would try to kill you and run your car of the road. Rockstar then found out that a lot of people were enjoying this glitch and so created a game where all of this was possible.
