If you buy the retail edition, it will install from the discs and then update automatically over the internet. Or if you want to install without the discs at a later date, you can log into your Rockstar Social Club account and download the installer from there. If you bought the Steam version, then you start the download by clicking on the blue Install button on the game's page in your library.
