When I was in trouble with my mom and had been grounded, or was told I could not have a particular thing, I worked out a way to negotiate the punishment by offering to do odd jobs or a schedule of work. I was quite happy to help out with stuff and it seemed a better way of making amends in a positive way. It also made my mom really pleased that I had offered to do stuff.
It may be worth considering something like that, and, if you are wanting a video game, it would look as if you were working to towards earning it. One thing mom's like sorted is all the stuff in your bedroom. We all collect things we forget we have, and you could offer to sort it out and perhaps have a yard sale or give stuff to charity with the items you no longer want.
