All the GTA games are adult rated, and are considered violent. There is always a great deal of murder and mayhem in the missions within the games, and particularly gang related violence. Weapons are a strong theme, as is very strong language, and more sexual content appeared in later games.
More recently there have been moral decisions within particular games (GTA IV for example), where the protagonist can actually decide whether he wants to execute his hit or not.
There is always a great deal of controversy surrounding these games, but they are ultimately best sellers and enjoyed by millions (including myself).

∙ 13y agoThere is much controversy over the video game series Grand Theft Auto. One can say it is violent as the player can conduct many violent activities in the game such as beatings, murders, drive-by shootings, car theft, explosive misconduct, etc. Many other video games do include violent aspects to it, not just Grand Theft Auto which is why many have an ERSB rating on the cover.
